Dashboards help you understand your media coverage easily using intuitive charts and features that track key metrics, export data, and drill down into specific results, allowing you to seamlessly extract the insights that matter most.
Dashboards are a powerful feature designed to provide users with an organised, visual overview of their saved searches and insights. Each dashboard corresponds directly to a saved search, displaying key charts such as Coverage Timeline, Article-level Sentiment analysis, and Media Type breakdowns. All the charts allow you to drill down to the media mentions contributing to that data point.
Understanding key charts:
Your dashboard includes the following curated charts, offering meaningful insights into your search results:
- Overview: View the total number of media mentions for the selected time period and changes compared to the previous period.
- Coverage timeline: View the spread of your mentions by media type across the given time period. Use this chart to see how your media coverage changes over time and how each media type contributes to the shifts and trends in your results.
- Organisations mentioned in this search: This chart shows the top 5 organisations mentioned the most in the search results. It takes into account both the number of times an organisation is mentioned and also how important or prominent those mentions were in the articles. Depending on the keywords and parameters of your search, this graph can be a launch pad for understanding the organisations mentioned alongside your own brand or keywords that have built the search.
- Article-level sentiment: A breakdown of the sentiment of the articles in the search. Sentiment is assessed at the overall article level. Use this metric to evaluate the general tone of coverage captured by your search.
- Where your mentions are happening: A breakdown of mentions by media type, highlighting the top outlets or profiles in this search.
a) Mentions by type: Displays a breakdown of media types contributing to your search results to understand where your mentions are coming from.
b) Top 5 outlets: Highlights the media outlets generating the most mentions. By selecting a different media type in the pie chart, the top 5 outlets will dynamically update to show the leading outlets from that media type specifically. - Top authors and journalists: See the top five authors generating mentions in this search.
- Leading topics: Shows the most frequently discussed themes or topics in your search results. A topic is assigned to a mention based on repeated keywords and phrases. Topics are derived from a set list of broad-based topics and provide further context about the mentions in this search.
Dashboard overview
When you save a search, a dashboard with the same name is automatically created. This allows you to quickly access and review the performance and data associated with that search. Dashboards can be accessed in two ways:
- From the Saved Search: Directly navigate from the respective search.
- From the Dashboards menu: Use the left-hand sidebar to find and open any available dashboards.
Key benefits:
- Comprehensive insights: Each dashboard provides detailed charts and visualisations on media coverage, sentiment, and trends.
- Efficiency: Dashboards are automatically linked to searches, so you can focus on analysis without the need for manual setup.
- User-friendly layout: The charts are designed to be easily interpreted, helping you monitor media performance at a glance.
- Pinning functionality: Pin important dashboards to the top of your list for easy access.
Top tip:
- To remove a dashboard, delete the corresponding saved search, as dashboards cannot be edited or deleted directly.
Navigating and customising your dashboard
Dashboards display key data automatically for the past 7 days by default. If you set a custom date range in your search, the dashboard will reflect that period instead. You can navigate between different dashboards from the list on the sidebar or access them through Saved Searches.
Customising your view:
While users cannot create or modify the existing charts, the platform offers several options to adjust your dashboard to suit your needs:
- Date filters: You can select specific time periods for data analysis. For example, if you choose 21-25 October in your search, the dashboard will display data only for those days.
- Comparisons: Some charts automatically show comparisons to previous periods. For instance, a 7-day view will compare data with the preceding 7 days.
- Resizing and moving charts: Adjust the size of individual charts by dragging their edges or rearrange them by drag-and-drop to fit your preferred layout.
Actions on charts:
- Export options: Export charts in CSV, PNG, or JPG formats. CSV exports provide raw data, which is ideal for further analysis, while PNG and JPG exports give you visual charts without titles, allowing you to customise them for reports or presentations.
- Reset layout: Made changes to your dashboard that you don’t like? Hit the 'Reset board' button to revert to the default layout.
- List view: Switch to list view to arrange charts vertically, making it easier to scroll through and review each individually.
Exploring data drill-downs
The drill-down feature allows users to explore detailed information directly from the charts. Clicking on a specific segment of a chart will open a detailed view of the actual articles or media mentions that contribute to that data point. This allows you to:
- View the articles or media content that correspond to specific trends or mentions.
- Access original URLs for deeper context.
- Add content to curated reports.
- Share insights with your team or stakeholders.
Top tip:
Hover over any chart to view detailed data points like exact figures, percentages, or names. This quick, interactive feature provides immediate insight without needing to click into different sections.
